The Abu Dhabi Crown Prince is on a two-day (September 9-10) official visit to India
Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Monday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and held discussions on a wide range of areas related to bilateral engagements between the two countries.

Posting a text on the social media platform X, Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, “India-UAE ties are taking greater strides! PM Narendra Modi met with HH Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi today. The two leaders discussed the multifaceted India-UAE relations and avenue to broaden the comprehensive strategic partnership to new and emerging areas.”

While releasing a statement on the Abu Dhabi Crown’s visit, the MEA said, “The Crown Prince held bilateral discussions with the Prime Minister today. The Prime Minister conveyed his warm greetings and regards to His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE.”

During the meeting, the two leaders expressed satisfaction over the substantial progress achieved in recent years in the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and discussed opportunities to further widen and deepen the partnership in all areas of bilateral cooperation, the MEA maintained.

“They acknowledged that the success of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) and the recent entry into force of the Bilateral Investment Treaty (BIT) will provide further impetus to the strong economic and commercial partnership between the two countries. They also underscored the need to explore new areas of untapped potential, particularly in nuclear energy, critical minerals, green hydrogen, artificial intelligence, and cutting-edge technologies,” the MEA added.

The Abu Dhabi Crown Prince who is on a two-day (September 9-10) visit to India, earlier called on President Droupadi Murmu at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Monday.

“Discussions covered the warm, historic, and comprehensive ties between the two countries and the several initiatives taken in recent years. President Murmu expressed her gratitude to the leadership of the UAE for hosting more than 3.5 million Indians,” MEA said.

The Abu Dhabi Crown Prince also visited Rajghat to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi.

Maintaining about it, the Ministry observed, “He became the third-generation leader from the UAE to plant a sapling at Rajghat, following His Highness Sheikh Zayedbin Sultan Al Nahyan, former President of the UAE in 1992; and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE in 2016.”

“This was a unique and rare occasion, showcasing the generational continuity of the strong relationship between the two countries. This is the first time in the history of Rajghat that leaders from three generations of a country have planted trees honouring the Mahatma,” the MEA added.

Earlier, the two countries signed agreements in five areas and they include MoU in the field of Barakah Nuclear Power Plant Operations and Maintenance between Emirates Nuclear Energy Company (ENEC) and Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL); an Agreement for long-term LNG supply between Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and Indian Oil Corporation Limited; MoU between ADNOC and India Strategic Petroleum Reserve Limited (ISPRL); Production Concession Agreement for Abu Dhabi Onshore Block 1 between Urja Bharat and ADNOC; MoU between Government of Gujarat and Abu Dhabi Developmental Holding Company PJSC (ADQ) on food parks development in India.

India and the UAE share historically close and friendly ties.

In recent years, the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between India and the UAE has deepened in a wide range of areas including political, trade, investment, connectivity, energy, technology, education, and culture. 

The Crown Prince’s visit will further reinforce strong India-UAE bilateral relations and open avenues for partnership in new and emerging areas, the MEA said.
